Homebuyers have been snapping up properties at an attractive Northamptonshire development, with just eight remaining.
The Hedgerows, in Irthlingborough, has proved to be a runaway success for Persimmon Homes, with 49 of the 57 properties now sold.
Sarah Gleeson, sales advisor at The Hedgerows, said a sense of community was growing as people move into their new homes.
She said: “The development has proved to be very popular. It’s very close to Stanwick Lakes and the countryside so we’ve had lots of people with dogs buying properties here.
“We’ve had lots of young couples and first-time buyers with young families, but also older people who have downsized. It’s a real mix.
“There’s a really lovely atmosphere developing as more and more families move in.”
Still available are a handful of two and three bedroomed properties, priced from £124,950.
The development, nestled amongst the rolling Northamptonshire countryside, has been built on the site of the former Sunlight Laundry, and the Irthlingborough Historical Society recently unveiled a blue plaque, attached to the side of one of the new houses, to celebrate the historic nature of the location.
The laundry was a major employer in Irthlingborough and a community grew up around it. Households would send their family weekly wash to the laundry, which also served as a centre of social activities for the workforce.
Today there is a selection of local sports and leisure facilities, great schools for children of all ages and convenient access to the M1 and M6.
