After three years of hard work a motor apprentice from Guildford is celebrating becoming a qualified technician.
Daniel Meola joined Volkswagen Van Centre Guildford in 2011 and embarked on an intensive Volkswagen training programme with the aim of forging a career in the motor industry.
During his apprenticeship, the 25-year-old was recognised for his hard work and dedication in his second year of study, being crowned Apprentice of the Year by the national automotive manufacturer.
Daniel is looking forward to putting his skills to practical use while still continuing to progress his training.
He said: “I have always been interested in motor mechanics, which possibly came from my dad who was in the same trade, so I was delighted to secure my job at Volkswagen Van Centre Guildford.
“The apprenticeship has been challenging and really pushed me at times, but I have always enjoyed it and I’m now looking forward to progressing my knowledge and training further within the company and Volkswagen brand.”
The Volkswagen apprenticeship incorporates a series of on and off-site workshops and assessments, enabling the individual to carry out complex diagnostic and engineering analysis of the complete commercial vehicles range.
David Bailiss, head of business at Volkswagen Van Centre Guildford, said: “Daniel has worked exceptionally hard throughout his apprenticeship and fully deserves to have reached the technician status.
“We are already planning the next stage of Daniel’s training.”
